However, while the MacBook has a good Radeon Pro 5500M GPU, it’s not as powerful as the NNidia graphics chips that can be found in its competitors. These are available with Nvidia GTX 1650, and RTX 2060 on the lower end and can be spec’d up even higher. The Apple MacBook Pro is a premium laptop that stands out for its build quality, performance, and power efficiency. It also has arguably one of the best displays on the market, and it continues to set the standard when it comes to laptop speakers and touchpads. However, it’s very expensive compared to Windows laptops with similar performance. Also, while it can handle graphically demanding games, few titles are optimized for its ARM-based SoC, so it isn’t the best option if your main goal is to play games.

Considering how well-built and fully-loaded these laptops are, it should last at least five years. Another option for content creators is the Asus ZenBook Duo Pro. On top of the unique second screen of this laptop, the Duo Pro has an OLED 4K screen and fantastic Core i9 performance. It’s still one of the most powerful implementation of that chip for video editors and content creators. Under my standard workload, which involves dozens of tabs, streaming music in Spotify, and Slack, the 16-inch MacBook Pro lasted around five and a half hours.

Apple had to know that adding a notch to a MacBook Pro 16.2-inch Liquid Retina XDR display was a decision that would draw mountains of criticism, and post-launch, it’s certainly received its share complaints and jokes. But, like its use in the iPhone lineup, the notch makes sense in a display with a 3.5 mm bezel. Beyond ports, the year-over-year design differences are apparent. This includes MagSafe 3, and the edges, which are now curved and smooth rather than angular with sharper corners. But, as it did with the 24-inch iMac, Apple used the Apple Silicon opportunity to make some radical adjustments to the structure of the 16-inch MacBook Pro rather than keeping the design static.

Also, Apple has since released a new MacBook Pro 16 with their in-house M1 Pro and M1 Max SoCs. They’re treble-heavy due to the lack of bass, but this is typical for most laptop speakers. The Apple MacBook Pro 16 laptop’s out-of-the-box color accuracy is outstanding. Most color inaccuracies aren’t noticeable, and the white balance is only slightly off. The color temperature is on the cooler side of our 6500K target, resulting in a very slight bluish tint.

This would not support fast charging, but this is also the case for the base model of thesmaller MBP 14, which is shipped with a 67 W PSU by default. The constant PWM flickering at around 15 kHz is another problem, and we can even detect it at the maximum HDR brightness. The frequency is very high and will not be an issue for most users, but the panel of the new MacBook Pro 16 is not suited for you if you are very sensitive to the flickering. This constant flickering also makes it extremely hard to determine the response times. They are pretty slow according to our measurements, but you do not really notice ghosting in practice. It looks like Apple’s Pro Motion technology with a dynamic refresh rate of up to 120 Hz helps a bit.

For me, it’s still a very portable computer, nothing like 13/14″ ones, but still very manageable. I had my for an hour, before I had to return it (backlight didn’t work).
